Design /Build of Timber Frame homes, barns and outbuildings
In consultation with engineers and architects as dictated by your local building codes, we'll provide floor plans, elevation plans and entire timber frame detail drawings including options for enclosure systems. There are many ways to enclose a timber frame, such as straw/clay or woodchip/clay, strawbale, cellulose, conventional fiberglass, reflective insulation or, structural insulated panels. We'll create a design that works for your project.
Natural Building Design, Consultation and Construction
There are a wide variety of natural wall options to enhance your timber frame. In addition, the use of earthen and/or traditional lime plasters compliment and complete these wall systems, not to mention beautify them as well. There are many design features and details that are essential for the success of these systems. We feel confident
that the northeast climate is very well suited for natural buildings and systems and we look forward to sharing these concepts to ensure a successful project. Please check out our photos of recent naturally build projects. In addition, the natural building network is an excellent source of further information.
On Site Timber Frame Education
Ever been curious about how to build a timber frame? Just want to learn to cut joinery? Want to raise the frame of your house with your own hands? We specialize in giving you the opportunity to take a very active role in your project, opportunities not available elsewhere.
Natural Building workshops and programs
We've been pleasantly surprised by the interest in using local, non-toxic and natural materials on our timber frame projects.
Recent projects we've completed include using woodchip/clay and straw/clay as insulation systems, both of which were completed with a
beautiful, durable natural plaster. We'll coordinate workshops and workparties to bring your neighbors and friends together to build your
walls and finish your home.
Undustrial Arts and Education
We'll come to trade and vocational schools to give 1 day, 1 week or two week programs in timber framing and/or straw/clay building, natural plasters and finishes. Our Undustrial Arts and Education programs will provide students to take responsibility for their project, explore creative and safe buildings methods, learn about the building sciences in an experiential way and learn about working together for a common creative goal.

Our goal is ecologically responsible and structurally durable projects. Many people would choose these harmonious bottom lines for their projects, weather they be new buildings or renovations, if given the necessary information and the choice. from design considerations, material selection and installation process.
