About Bryan
Bryan Felice is an educator as well as a builder. After years of travel,
graduate school, work, and teaching, he decided he wanted to learn
how to build his own house. His interest is timber framing led him to
study as an apprentice at the Heartwood School and the desire to
build for himself grew into a desire to build for others. He founded
Undustrial TImber Frames, LLC with the intention of bringing together his
educational background with the building process to allow clients
the opportunity to take part in their building.
Not exactly in the day to day vocabulary of most people, "Undustrial" is the idea that combines natural human ingenuity and energy with the timeless need for shelter. We believe healthy shelter is as much a human right as water or air and strive to make this right affordable. Among the principles of the Undustrial Approach are:
- Drastically reduce material waste associated with the building industry
- Use human energy over mechanical energy whenever safely possible.
- Decreased dependency on technological solutions.
- Adherence to more time-tested, traditional methods and materials.
- Replant for all used resources
- Commitment to sustainable forestry
- Safe, minimally mechanized raisings of our frames
- Understanding the forest in which trees/timbers come from
